Dr. Philip Tew serves as the Director of Economic Education and Financial Literacy and holds the rank of Associate Professor of Finance at Arkansas State University's Neil Griffin College of Business. He is affiliated with the Department of Economics & Finance. Tew earned his Ph.D. in Finance (with minors in Econometrics and Management Information Systems) from the University of Mississippi in 2009, along with a J.D., M.Tax., M.B.A., and B.B.A. from the same institution.
His research focuses on financial distress, bankruptcy, small business/entrepreneurial finance, and financial institutions. He is a member of professional organizations including the Financial Management Association, Southern Finance Association, and Mississippi Bar (since 1998). Tew previously worked as Legal Counsel for Enterprise Corporation of the Delta/Hope Community Credit Union, providing loans to businesses and individuals in the Delta region. He has taught at the University of Mississippi and Mississippi State University before joining A-State.
