Philip Schleifer is an Associate Professor of Transnational Governance at the University of Amsterdam's Department of Political Science, within the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences. He holds a PhD in International Relations from the London School of Economics and previously held fellowships at the European University Institute (Max Weber Fellow, Jean Monnet Fellow) and visiting positions at Duke University and the Grantham Research Institute.
His research explores sustainability governance in the global economy, with specializations in:
- Transnational business governance and corporate environmental strategies
- Political economy of natural resources and deforestation
- AI-assisted analysis of corporate biodiversity discourse
- Hybrid regulatory systems for sustainability
His publications focus on corporate influence in environmental regulation, supply chain sustainability, and biodiversity crisis responses. Key themes include regulatory innovation, business-political interactions, and sustainability transitions in emerging economies.
