Philip Raskin

Philip Raskin, M.D., is a Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine at UT Southwestern Medical Center and a member of its Division of Endocrinology. He serves as Director of the Diabetes Clinic at Parkland Hospital and is the Principal Investigator in four NIH-funded multicenter diabetes trials: DCCT/EDIC, TrialNet, GRADE Study, and D2d Study. His clinical and research focus revolves around diabetes and its complications.

Education: B.A. cum laude from Washington & Jefferson College, M.D. from University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, residency in Internal Medicine at University of Pittsburgh, and fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at UT Southwestern. Board certified in Endocrinology since 1973.

Research interests include diabetes management, clinical trials, and metabolic disorders. He has held editorial roles for the Journal of Diabetes and Its Complications (1990–2011) and Clinical Diabetes. His publications span New England Journal of Medicine, Diabetes Care, and others.

Honors include the Clifton and Betsy Robinson Chair in Biomedical Research. Active in professional organizations such as the Endocrine Society and American Society of Clinical Investigation.
