Professor Philip Leifeld holds the position of Professor in Social Statistics at the University of Manchester. His research focuses on computational social science, network analysis, and policy debates. He previously served as Professor of Comparative Politics at the University of Essex and held roles at the University of Glasgow.
His work combines statistical modeling and network science, notably through the Discourse Network Analyzer (DNA) software. He has contributed to R packages like texreg and btergm. Leifeld has been a Mercator Fellow in Germany's DFG Research Training Group 2720 and has held visiting positions at Columbia University and Ohio State University.
