Professor Philip Hancock is a distinguished academic at the University of Essex, holding the position of Professor of Work and Organisation at Essex Business School. His research focuses on critical organisation theory, organisational aesthetics, spatial management of work, and the socio-economic dimensions of Christmas. He has held leadership roles such as Head of the Organisation Studies and HRM Subject Group and has taught at institutions like the University of Warwick and Glasgow Caledonian University. Hancock holds a PhD from Keele University and has authored influential books like Organizing Christmas and co-edited volumes on organisational theory and aesthetics.
His academic journey includes visiting professorships at the University of Lapland and a Visiting Fellowship at the University of Sydney. Research interests span critical social theory, organisational symbolism, and vintage production.
