Philip Jefferies is a Lecturer in Psychology at the Department of Environmental Humanities and Social Sciences, located at the Mayo campus under the Health Science institution. His research focuses on resilience processes, mental health, and psychometrics, particularly in vulnerable populations such as refugees, children in conflict zones, and youth exposed to adversity. He has contributed to validating resilience measures across diverse cultural contexts, including Indonesia, Iran, and Brazil. Jefferies emphasizes the socio-ecological framework in understanding resilience, integrating factors like family resources, community support, and individual coping mechanisms. He actively publishes in peer-reviewed journals and collaborates internationally on resilience interventions. Currently accepting PhD students, his work bridges psychological theory with practical applications in global health and social policy.
