Dr. Fanita Tyrell is an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Maryland at College Park, directing the Resilient Adaptation across Culture and Context (RACC) Lab. Her work focuses on resilience and cultural processes in ethnic-racial minority and adversity-exposed populations, emphasizing how cultural experiences like socialization and parenting practices shape development and behavior. She holds a PhD in Developmental Psychology from the University of California, Riverside, and prior degrees from Northern Arizona University. Her research aims to refine theoretical models of resilience, improve measurement tools, and design culturally sensitive interventions for vulnerable youth.
