Ana Kamille Marcelo is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Clark University. She holds a Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology from UC Riverside (2016) and studies how risk/protective factors shape child development across cultural contexts. Her dual research streams focus on (1) pretend play, creativity, and emotional expressiveness in socioemotional adjustment, and (2) early ethnic-racial identity formation in response to bias.
Research Areas: Investigates caregiver-child play interactions, discrimination impacts on behavior, and resilience mechanisms in marginalized youth using longitudinal and mixed methods. Recent work examines ecological stressors affecting caregivers and moderators of childhood aggression.
Publications: Articles in Cultural Diversity and Ethnic Minority Psychology and Journal of Child and Family Studies explore ethnic-racial identity as a buffer against discrimination and cross-context behavioral outcomes of play themes.
