Philip Ingham is a Professor at the Department of Life Sciences, University of Bath, and Director of the Milner Centre for Evolution. His work focuses on Hedgehog signaling in development and disease and myogenesis in zebrafish.
Education:
- Bachelor of Arts in Natural Sciences, University of Cambridge (1977)
- Doctor of Philosophy in Developmental Genetics, University of Sussex (1981)
His research explores the Hedgehog signaling pathway's role in developmental processes and pathologies, using zebrafish models to study gene regulation, cilia dynamics, and infectious disease mechanisms. Recent work includes antibiotic synergy testing and bone formation after injury.
Scientific awards include FRS and FMedSci. He currently chairs the European Research Council's LS3 Advanced Grants Panel and has held leadership roles in zebrafish and developmental biology societies.
