Philip Hodgson is a Clinical Specialist Physiotherapist and part-time PhD student at York St John University, affiliated with the School of Science, Technology and Health. His research focuses on psycho-physical interactions in Parkinson’s Disease and the impact of structured physical activity on mental health in patients with serious mental illness. He holds a Master’s in Clinical Research from The University of Manchester and has clinical experience in acute hospitals, community settings, and inpatient mental health services across the UK.

Research Interests: Hodgson’s work bridges clinical practice and research, addressing neurodegenerative disorders and mental health through interdisciplinary approaches. His current PhD investigates the bidirectional relationship between physical and psychological symptoms in Parkinson’s Disease. He also explores how tailored physical activity programs can improve outcomes for individuals with serious mental illnesses, including both inpatient and community populations.
