Philip Froelich is an Adjunct Professor at Florida State University, affiliated with the Earth & Climate Sciences Division. His research focuses on understanding Earth's geological and climatic history to predict future environmental changes, particularly regarding carbon cycles and sea-level rise. He has participated in major initiatives like the Joint Global Ocean Flux Study (JGOFS), conducting fieldwork in extreme environments such as Antarctica's Polar Front.
Froelich's work integrates chemistry, geology, and oceanography to analyze sediment cores and ocean floor records, aiming to model past planetary ecosystems. He teaches in oceanography and geology departments, emphasizing risk-taking in scientific inquiry and training the next generation of researchers. His laboratory affiliations include the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory, where he applies advanced analytical techniques to environmental data.
