Philip Acimovic is a Lecturer in Music at Smith College and Director of the Javanese Gamelan Ensemble. He is a composer and gamelan musician whose works have been performed by ensembles such as the Empyrean Ensemble and Left Coast Chamber Ensemble, often exploring intersections between music, visual art, and cultural traditions.

Acimovic’s research focuses on contemporary classical composition, Javanese gamelan traditions, and interdisciplinary collaborations. He studied gamelan in Central Java and has organized international cultural exchanges, including a 2018 U.S. tour of a gamelan gadhon troupe.

He directs the Smith College Gamelan Ensemble and Yale University Gamelan Ensemble, serves on the Artistic Advisory Committee of Easthampton’s CitySpace arts center, and contributed to the Lontar Foundation's Wayang Educational package as an editor.
