معرفی
Phil Stouffer is the Lee F. Mason Professor at Louisiana State University (LSU) within the School of Renewable Natural Resources. His career spans over three decades, including roles as Editor-in-Chief of The Condor: Ornithological Applications (2013–2019) and a Fulbright Scholar at Tanzania’s College of African Wildlife Management (2014–2015). He holds a PhD in Ecology from Rutgers University (1989) and a BS in Biology from Bucknell University (1983).
Research Interests
Stouffer’s work focuses on avian ecology in tropical and coastal ecosystems, particularly impacts of climate change, forest fragmentation, and human disturbances. His studies include long-term monitoring of Amazonian bird communities, oil spill effects on coastal species, and behavioral adaptations to environmental stressors. He employs cutting-edge tracking technologies and integrates genetics, physiology, and stable isotope analyses into his research.
Key Contributions
- Pioneered studies on Amazonian forest fragment dynamics at the Biological Dynamics of Forest Fragments Project.
- Led post-Deepwater Horizon oil spill assessments in Louisiana’s coastal marshes.
- Advanced methodologies for quantifying avian niche differentiation and flock behavior in fragmented landscapes.
Awards & Leadership
- Fulbright Scholar (2014–2015)
- Editor-in-Chief, The Condor (2013–2019)
- Visiting Scholar at Namibia University of Science and Technology (2022–2023)
Labs & Collaborations
Stouffer’s lab at LSU focuses on tropical avian conservation and disturbance ecology. His work spans international partnerships in Brazil, Tanzania, and Namibia, emphasizing global biodiversity challenges.
