Dr. Phil Eva serves as a Lecturer in Counselling and Psychotherapy at the University of Salford's School of Health & Society, where he has been employed since 2016. He currently acts as Admissions Tutor for the BSc (Hons) Counselling & Psychotherapy: Professional Practice program and Module Leader for the Dissertation module in the MSc Counselling & Psychotherapy: Professional Training program, having previously served as Programme Leader for the BSc program (2017-2020).
His educational background includes:
- BSc (Hons) Combined Studies (History and Literature) from the University of Manchester (1984-1987)
- PhD in History from the University of Manchester (1991-1996), researching 'Singing to Themselves: Popular Song and Social Identity in the Victorian City'
- Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling from Abertay University (2006-2007)
Dr. Eva's research examines critical intersections of therapy and lived experience through three focal areas: counselling for long term health conditions, pluralistic integration of therapeutic approaches, and emotional challenges in academic environments.
