Phil Carpenter

Phil Carpenter is a Lecturer at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), specializing in marketing within the Technology Management Department. He also serves as a long-time coach for student teams in UCSB's annual New Venture Competition, fostering entrepreneurial talent. As founder of Ronin, a fractional CMO firm, Phil advises and invests in early-stage tech startups. He chairs the board of Ventech, a non-profit dedicated to strengthening Santa Barbara's tech and entrepreneurial ecosystems.

Phil has built marketing functions at high-growth companies such as ALICE Technologies (AI for construction scheduling), Yalo (Latin America's leading conversational commerce platform), and SideStep (pioneering travel search engine acquired by Kayak). He previously co-founded Whiskey Creek Properties, a Phoenix-based real estate development firm, and held leadership roles at Allison+Partners, managing the agency's west coast operations.

He holds a BA from Stanford University and an MBA from Harvard University, blending elite academic training with extensive industry experience in technology, marketing, and venture development.
