Eve Brown

Dr. Eve Lorane Brown is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Black Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She earned her PhD in Psychology from UC Santa Cruz and previously held postdoctoral positions at UCLA (Ford Foundation Fellow), UC Berkeley (UC President's Fellow), and UC system-wide (Lionel Cantu Fellow).

Her research examines stigma, discrimination, and violence against Black transgender women, with applied work in structural competency consultation across medical, legal, and public settings. She serves on the APA's advisory board for medical guidelines regarding transgender individuals.

Dr. Brown has two forthcoming book manuscripts: Still They Rise! (Duke University Press) on empirical research with Black transgender women, and Nomadic Warrior Queen, a memoir.
