Phebe Brako serves as an Adjunct Faculty member in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Antioch University, teaching Counseling Theories. She is also a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist based in Washington State and DC, specializing in immigrant mental health through her practice, 253 THERAPY AND CONSULT.
Her educational qualifications include:
- MA in Marriage and Family Therapy, Seton Hill University (2013)
- BA in Psychology, Salem College (2011)
Phebe's academic and clinical work centers on BIPOC Immigrant Mental Health and Transracial Adoption. She addresses trauma, work stress, and identity issues among immigrant adults, families, and couples, leveraging her Ghanaian heritage to foster culturally responsive care. Her doctoral research at Antioch University - Seattle explores transracial adoption dynamics.
Phebe has been honored with:
- Tacoma’s Most Inspiring Women (Experience Tacoma, 2021)
- 40 under 40 Award (South Sound Business Examiner, 2017)
As a Washington State Approved Supervisor, she mentors future therapists and actively participates in professional organizations including the American Counseling Association. Though not currently accepting therapy clients, her practice team continues to serve the community, and she focuses on supervision, consultation, and speaking engagements.
