Peyman Givi

Peyman Givi is a Distinguished Professor and the James T. MacLeod Chair in Engineering at the University of Pittsburgh's School of Engineering, Department of Mechanical Engineering and Material Science. He serves as Director of the Laboratory for Computational Transport Phenomena and Co-director of the Ph.D. Program in Computational Modeling & Simulation. Dr. Givi is Pitt's representative at the Universities Space Research Association (USRA) and has maintained strong collaborations with NASA for over 30 years.

His research spans Thermal-Fluid Sciences, Systems and Control, Vibration and Shock, Numerical Methods, Applied Mathematics, Data Driven Modeling, Random Data Analysis, Stochastic Processes, and Quantum Computing. Dr. Givi has developed mathematical and computational models for aerospace sciences, with former doctoral students now working at NASA, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, Honeywell Aerospace, Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls Royce, and leading academic institutions worldwide.

Dr. Givi previously held the rank of University Distinguished Professor in Aerospace Engineering at the State University of New York at Buffalo, where he received the Professor of the Year Award by Tau Beta Pi (2002). He also worked as a Research Scientist at Flow Industries, Inc. in Seattle and has had frequent visiting appointments at NASA Langley & Glenn centers.
