Petros Michaelides is a Professor in International Protection of Human Rights at Neapolis University of Cyprus. He holds a Law degree from Athens University (1958-1963) and a Doctorate in Constitutional Law and Political Sciences from Paris University (1965-1967). His career includes roles as a judge (1967-1978), Minister of Justice (1978), Special Advisor to the President (1979), and diplomat serving as Cyprus' Ambassador to France, Italy, and Austria. He has been a member of critical international bodies including the UN Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture since 2010 and the European Committee for the Prevention of Torture since 1989. Currently practicing as a lawyer-legal consultant in Nicosia, he is fluent in Greek, English, French, German, and Italian.
