Petri Nokelainen is a Professor at the School of Education, University of Tampere, specializing in vocational education and learning environments. His research focuses on workplace learning, professional development, and the integration of formal and informal learning in vocational contexts. He has held academic roles since 1995, including Researcher, Postdoctoral Researcher, and various professorships in vocational education and learning environments.
Key research interests include vocational excellence, apprenticeship training, and the impact of workplace environments on skill development. He has led numerous funded projects totaling over €2.6 million, addressing topics like workplace learning, mentorship in apprenticeships, and the future of work. Notable awards include the Ella and Georg Ehrnrooth Foundation Research Award (2005) and the Finnish Vocational Educational Research Association Award (2018).
