Ov Cristian Norocel is an Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Helsinki, and affiliated with CEREN (Centre for Research on Ethnic Relations and Nationalism). His work bridges European studies, political sociology, and gender studies through critical discourse analysis, focusing on populist radical right parties' resistance to equality and EU integration.
Key Research Interests: Radical right populism, intersectionality, gender and political identity, conceptual metaphors in political discourse, comparative politics, political communication, and media. Geographically, his expertise spans the Nordic Countries (Finland, Sweden), Central/Eastern Europe (Hungary, Romania, Moldova), the Baltic States, and the EU.
His postdoctoral and doctoral research projects, funded by grants from institutions like the Society of Swedish Literature in Finland and the Ella and Georg Ehrnrooth Foundation, explored gender equality, democracy, and the ideological framing of the European project. He has participated in numerous academic conferences, including the European Sociological Association and Nordic Political Science Association, and contributed to media discussions on populist movements.
