Peter Wolsing is an Associate Professor at the University of Southern Denmark's Department of Design, Media and Educational Science and an affiliate of the SDU Climate Cluster. His research bridges historical philosophy (specializing in Classical German Philosophy from Kant to Hegel) with contemporary issues like environmental ethics, aesthetics, and philosophy of nature. He teaches courses spanning ancient Greek philosophy, phenomenology, existentialism, and environmental ethics.
Research Focus: Wolsing investigates how post-Kantian philosophy of nature and Bildung (education) concepts can strengthen environmental virtue ethics. He also researches Danish Golden Age philosophy, particularly F.C. Sibbern's interpretations of Fichte and Schelling. His interdisciplinary approach connects philosophical methodology with urgent societal challenges.
Publication Trends: Recent works (2022-2025) predominantly analyze Hegelian dialectics, German Idealism's relevance to modern ethics/politics, and Schelling-inspired philosophy of nature. Danish intellectual history and critiques of foundationalism in phenomenology are recurring themes.
Projects:
- Digging for the Climate (2024-2027): Climate change impacts on consumer behavior.
- Elite Centre CUHRE (2023-2027): Sustainable development and didactics.
- Transformative Transmissions (2023-2025): German-Scandinavian intellectual exchanges.
