معرفی
Professor Peter Watson is a faculty member at Cardiff University's School of Biosciences, holding roles including Director for Postgraduate Education, Academic lead of imaging facilities, and Postgraduate Research Teaching Co-ordinator. His research focuses on understanding how mammalian cells regulate and spatially coordinate the movement of cellular cargo, ensuring organelle homeostasis and correct delivery. Techniques employed include fluorescence microscopy, nonlinear optical approaches, and molecular dynamics simulations.
Current lab members include PhD students Cristina Newnes, Chelsea Stevens, Rhodri Thomas, Nicole Slesiona, and Carwyn Hughes. Previous lab members have contributed to projects involving drug delivery, microscopy development, and nanoparticle trafficking. Undergraduate researchers have been involved in biophotonics and tissue engineering projects.
His work integrates advanced imaging techniques such as coherent anti-Stokes Raman scattering (CARS) and four-wave mixing microscopy to study cellular processes. Notable collaborations include projects with GSK and the MUSIQ ESR program. Contact details are available via WatsonPD@cardiff.ac.uk.
