Peter Vietgen

Dr. Peter Vietgen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Educational Studies at Brock University's Faculty of Education. He holds a PhD in Art Education from Concordia University and previously served as a Visual Arts Consultant for the Toronto District School Board. His research focuses on Teacher Education and the Arts, Social Justice in Education, Indigenous Education, and Museum/Gallery Partnerships. He currently chairs the Canadian Society for Education through Art (CSEA).

His work includes the PARTicipation 2022 project, a Canada Summer Games-inspired art initiative engaging over 8 Niagara schools. Funded by a VPR Canada Games Grant, this project highlights Vietgen’s commitment to community-engaged learning.

Key research interests include integrating arts into education, fostering equity through creative practices, and Indigenous youth empowerment. His curatorial work bridges academic and community spaces, showcasing student art to broader audiences.
