معرفی
Professor Peter Strong is a Professor of Biomedical Sciences at Sheffield Hallam University. He holds adjunct roles at institutions such as the University of California (Postdoctoral Fellow) and National University of Singapore (Visiting Professor). His academic journey includes degrees from Bristol University (BSc Chemistry), the University of Oregon (MA, PhD Organic Chemistry), and postdoctoral training at the University College London and Imperial College.
His research focuses on antimicrobial venom peptides, including the development of an ELISA for red scorpion venom antigenaemia and the mechanism of action of chlorotoxin. Collaborators include researchers from institutions like the Shemyakin Institute (Moscow), Haffkine Institute (Mumbai), and Leeds University. His work bridges pharmacology, biochemistry, and clinical applications, emphasizing venom-derived therapies.
Professor Strong has authored/co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles, with recent contributions exploring antimicrobial peptide optimization and venom-based drug discovery. His honors include Fellowships of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS) and Royal Society of Biology (FRSB). He has supervised numerous postgraduate students, including Kirstie Rawson (2015–2019) and Dr. R El-Rayess.
He serves as an External Examiner at Nottingham Trent University and Reviews Editor for Toxicon. His research extends to collaborations on venom-based antimicrobial and anticancer mechanisms, reflecting a commitment to translational biomedical science.
