Professor Peter Strelan is the Head of the School of Psychology at the University of Adelaide, within the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences. His research focuses on the intersection of social psychology and individual differences, particularly examining forgiveness, revenge, and justice beliefs in response to transgressions. He also specializes in innovative teaching methods, including the flipped classroom approach.
Professor Strelan has led numerous grants, including a $180,000 Templeton Foundation grant (2023–2025) for measuring divine forgiveness and an ARC Discovery Grant (2008–2010) exploring forgiveness dynamics. His work spans cross-cultural studies, mental health outcomes, and educational technology, with a particular emphasis on virtual classrooms and AI's impact on learning.
His research has addressed topics such as just world beliefs, trust in relationships, and the psychological effects of systemic injustice. He actively supervises higher-degree students and contributes to curriculum development in psychology. Professional activities include committee roles and collaborations across disciplines.
