Peter Serrano

Peter Serrano is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at Hunter College, CUNY, specializing in Behavioral Neuroscience. His research focuses on the neurobiological mechanisms of stress, fear, and memory, particularly examining the role of PKMζ in synaptic plasticity and PTSD. He leads three major projects:

• Investigating long-term potentiation and depression in memory formation
• Studying developmental psychobiology and learning disorders
• Exploring stress-induced neural changes in PTSD models

Recent work extends to Alzheimer's disease, analyzing drug repurposing strategies (e.g., agomelatine, RG2833) and sex-specific therapeutic interventions. Publications emphasize neuroinflammation, epigenetic modifiers, and synaptic receptor dynamics.
