Dr. Peter Rhodes is an Associate Professor at the University of Leeds' School of Design. He holds a PhD from Loughborough University of Technology and a first-class BSc (Hons) in Computing. His expertise spans image capture and reproduction, colour specification/management, and appearance measurement. He has led MSc programmes and served as Director of Student Education in the School of Design (2013–2018).
Research interests include gamut mapping, fabric pilling assessment, and colour's impact on impulsivity. He co-supervised nine PhD students and contributed to the ISO 10617 standard for colour communication. Notable awards include the Itek Award (2009), CGIV12 Best Paper (2012), and the Silver Medal from the Society of Dyers and Colourists (2020).
He has organized major conferences, including the 12th International Colour Association Congress (2013) and the Textile Institute World Conference (2018). His work on ColourTalk revolutionized colour specification in textiles.
