Peter Nagy

Peter Nagy is a Full Professor at Debrecen University and University of Veterinary Medicine, Hungary. He currently serves as Acting Director of the Chemistry Institute at Debrecen University (since 2022) and holds leadership positions at the National Institute of Oncology including Scientific Director (since 2017) and Head of the Department of Molecular Immunology and Toxicology (since 2011).

His research focuses on cancer biology with emphasis on:

• Redox mechanisms in cancer development
• Therapy resistance pathways
• Immune system interactions in oncology
• Cancer epidemiology patterns
• Tumor progression dynamics

He has received significant recognition including:

• Doctorate of Sciences (DSc) from Hungarian Academy of Sciences
• Fellowship of European Academy of Cancer Sciences
• Bolyai Plakett for outstanding research (2019)
• Multiple young investigator awards

Under his leadership, the National Tumor Biology Laboratory received 'Excellent' rating in Hungary's National Laboratories Programme, and the National Institute of Oncology Research Center was awarded 'TOP50 Excellent Research Infrastructure' status.
