Peter Matthiessen is an Adjunct Professor of Medical Science specializing in surgery at Örebro University, appointed in 2020. He previously held roles as an Associate Professor of Medical Sciences at the same institution since 2010. His research focuses on improving healthcare outcomes for colorectal cancer patients through advancements in surgical techniques, postoperative care, and equitable treatment access. Born in Stockholm in 1957, he earned his PhD in Medical Science at Linköping University in 2006 with a thesis on rectal cancer and postoperative monitoring.

Labs/Teams: He chairs a national working group for colorectal laparoscopic surgery development and directs SCRCR research governance since 2017. His collaborative projects with Linköping University have produced internationally recognized studies on stoma use and surgical complications.
