Peter Marsh is a Lecturer in the School of Architecture, Technology and Engineering at the University of Brighton. He holds a PhD (2023), MFA (2011), and BA (1994) from the University of Brighton and London Guildhall University. His research explores embodied cognition, material culture, and the intersection of design with health and technology. He has extensive experience as a professional model maker and technical educator, including a 17-year role as Model-Making Technician.
Key roles include founding member of the University’s Technician Commitment programme, Athena SWAN committee member, and Cross School Research and Ethics Committee member. He has won multiple awards including the University-wide Excellence in Learning Award and a team Technician Commitment Award for supporting NHS PPE production during lockdown.
Research interests focus on translating embodied experiences into material form, particularly through model making and drawing. His work bridges architecture, cognitive linguistics, and health sciences, emphasizing tactile engagement in a digital age. He advocates for inclusive pedagogy addressing sustainability and equity through collaborative design education.
