Peter L. Hahn is Professor of History at Ohio State University, specializing in US diplomatic history since 1877 with expertise in US-Middle East relations, human conflict, peace, and diplomacy. He has published seven books on American diplomacy in the Middle East, including Missions Accomplished? The United States and Iraq since World War I and Historical Dictionary of U.S.-Middle East Relations.
Professional service includes serving as dean of Arts and Humanities (2015-2021), History Department chair (2006-2015), and executive director of the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations (2002-2015). He was elected SHAFR president in 2018 and appointed to Ohio's War of 1812 Bicentennial Commission by Governor Ted Strickland in 2010.
