Mary L. Dudziak is the Asa Griggs Candler Professor of Law at Emory University School of Law, with joint affiliations in the departments of history and political science. She holds an AB from UC Berkeley and JD, MA, MPhil, and PhD from Yale University. A leading scholar of legal history and U.S. foreign relations, her work bridges domestic law and international affairs, focusing on war, race, and Cold War diplomacy.
Her research explores how U.S. military engagements shape political accountability and democratic governance. Notable works include *War Time: An Idea, Its History, Its Consequences* (2012) and *Cold War Civil Rights* (2000). Dudziak has held visiting professorships at Harvard, Duke, and USC, and served as SHAFR president and Kluge Chair at the Library of Congress.
Her honors include the ASLH Honorary Fellowship and Guggenheim Fellowship. She advises on U.S. foreign policy through roles at the State Department Historical Advisory Committee and Quincy Institute. Courses taught include Foreign Relations Law, Constitutional Law, and War & Security Colloquia.
