Peter Johnson is a part-time Director of Government Relations & Public Affairs at the University of North Dakota with over 30 years of institutional experience. He also serves as a Lecturer in Composition, Journalism and Public Relations at both UND and Lake Region State College, sharing his extensive professional expertise with students.
Johnson earned his BA in English (1981) and BS in Education (1982) from UND, establishing the foundation for his dual career path in university administration and teaching. His professional journey includes significant roles as UND spokesperson and head of the university's main public relations and communications function.
Johnson's expertise centers on public relations, government relations, and communications strategy. He has developed and sustained programs to engage regional, state, and federal policymakers to maximize support for UND's institutional objectives and strategic initiatives. His teaching focuses on practical applications of composition, journalism, and public relations principles.

Personally, he enjoys literature, film, music, theater, and outdoor activities including hiking, camping, cycling, and walking the Grand Forks Greenway. Each year, he participates in a week-long tradition with his brother and friends described as 'scaring fish and absorbing nature.'
