Reid Bertone-Johnson

Reid Bertone-Johnson is Lecturer in Landscape Studies at Smith College, teaching design studios and seminars. He directs the annual Landscape Studies Lecture Series and co-leads the Greenway Lab. Professional practice includes work with Dodson Associates and Library of American Landscape History.

Education includes MLA (University of Massachusetts Amherst), EdM (Harvard), and BS (Tufts).

Research integrates:

• Sustainable design pedagogy
• Public space activation through mobile 'ParKit' systems
• Community-based design for Northampton greenways
• Historic landscape interpretation

Studio projects partner with municipal agencies including Mill River Greenway and Healthy Hampshire. Co-directs the Interdisciplinary Making concentration.
