David Dodds

David Dodds serves as the Assistant Vice President for Communications at the University of North Dakota (UND) within the Division of Marketing & Communications. He teaches Comm 313: Persuasion during the fall semester and specializes in media engagement, FOIA facilitation, and media interview preparation.

• Education: BA in Communication from the University of North Dakota (1998)

Research Areas include Communication Strategies, International Media Relations, and the Art of the Informed Argument & Persuasion. His work focuses on strategic media planning, public relations, and storytelling for institutional communication.

Professional Background spans 17 years at UND, where he founded and manages UND Today. Prior to this, he spent a decade as a reporter at The Grand Forks Herald, covering higher education.

Military Experience includes 25 years in the North Dakota Army National Guard as a military journalist, with deployments to the Middle East and Balkans. He managed press embeds for international media during these missions.
