Peter James Saleh is a Lecturer of Dance at the Conservatory of Dance, Purchase College, State University of New York. He is also affiliated with the Juilliard School as a modern dance accompanist, teaches as an adjunct professor of percussion at the College of St. Elizabeth, and serves as a percussion coach at the Mason Gross School of the Arts Extension Division and the Youth Orchestra of Central Jersey. He is a member of BMI and AFM Local 802.
His educational background includes a BA and BM from Rutgers University and an MM from the University of North Texas. He has been a fellow at the University of North Texas and has guest-lectured at Western Washington University, University of Delaware, Rutgers, and the Juilliard precollege division.
His research and professional interests focus on percussion performance, composition for dance, music pedagogy, and contemporary classical music. He is the author of A Percussionist’s Handbook, a widely used pedagogic text, and his original percussion scores have been published and performed nationally.
