Peter J. Miller is an Associate Professor and Chair in the Classics Department at the University of Winnipeg. He holds a BA (Hons) from the University of Toronto, an MA from the University of Victoria, and a PhD from the University of Western Ontario. His research focuses on Ancient Greek poetry, athletics, gender studies, and classical reception, particularly exploring connections between antiquity and modern physical culture. He has been awarded prestigious grants including a SSHRC Insight Grant (2024-28) and a Chancellor's Research Chair (2019-2022).
Miller’s work bridges classical scholarship with modern contexts, examining themes like the legacy of the Olympic Games, ancient athletic identity, and the interplay between Hellenism and contemporary culture. His publications span academic journals like Hesperia and Nikephoros, as well as public outlets like The Conversation. He has authored monographs such as In Praise of Greek Athletes (2024) and edited volumes exploring ancient social dynamics through sport.
