Peter Hibbert is an Honorary Professor at Macquarie University’s Australian Institute of Health Innovation (AIHI), Centre for Healthcare Resilience and Implementation Science. He also holds a Visiting Research Fellow position at the University of South Australia. His research focuses on patient safety, healthcare delivery, and quality improvement, with notable contributions to studies on statutory duty of candour, aged care resilience, and pediatric healthcare translation initiatives. Hibbert has led over 10 research projects, including the National Paediatric Applied Research Translation Initiative (N-PARTI) and EU-funded resilience-building programs for elderly care leaders. He has published 166+ peer-reviewed articles, with a focus on healthcare systems, safety, and policy. His awards include the Peter Reizenstein Award (2019) and a Wiley Top Viewed Article (2023).
Key projects include evaluating Victoria’s duty of candour legislation, strengthening rural pediatric care through SC4RC trials, and developing the Support4Resilience toolbox for aged care leaders. Hibbert frequently presents at international conferences, addressing topics like adverse event investigations and healthcare cost disparities.
Awards highlight his impactful work: the 2019 Peter Reizenstein Award for observational studies on root cause analysis effectiveness, and a 2025 Wiley honor for a Milbank Quarterly paper on healthcare system transformation enablers.
