معرفی
Dr Peter Hartley is a Clinical Academic Physiotherapist in stroke rehabilitation at Cambridge University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and a fellow at the Department of Public Health and Primary Care, University of Cambridge, awarded by THIS Institute in 2022. His work addresses critical gaps in post-stroke recovery through systems-based approaches to physical activity optimization during hospitalization.
His research program focuses on:
- Developing AI-driven wearable sensors (with PhysiGo) to measure patient movement
- Mapping behavioral systems influencing inpatient physical activity via mixed-methods studies
- Designing multi-component interventions prioritizing acceptability, equity, and practicality
Dr Hartley's work bridges clinical physiotherapy and public health research to transform stroke rehabilitation protocols. Key methodologies include systematic reviews, behavioral system mapping, and patient-clinician co-design processes for intervention development.
His scientific recognition includes:
- Dunhill Medical Trust Research Training Fellowship (PhD funding, 2017-2021)
- THIS Institute Fellowship (2022)
As a clinical-academic, he integrates frontline rehabilitation practice with university-based research to accelerate translation of evidence into improved patient outcomes, emphasizing system-wide changes in hospital environments.
