Research Focus
Halewood's scholarship intersects legal theory with social justice, examining how law perpetuates or challenges systemic inequalities. His work spans international economic law, human rights frameworks, food security policy, and the racial dynamics of legal institutions. He actively investigates how neoliberal policies impact academic freedom, campus activism, and educational equity, with recent work focusing on anti-subordination norms within university structures.
Publication Trends
His articles demonstrate evolving focus from foundational property law and commodification studies (2008-2011) toward critical examinations of racial justice in voting rights and citizenship (2012-2015). Recent scholarship (2016-2020) addresses campus activism, free speech debates, and the intersection of trade law with human rights. Methodologically, he employs critical race theory, political economy analysis, and comparative legal frameworks across jurisdictions.
