Peter Friedl

Peter Friedl is Professor holding the chair for Microscopical Imaging of the Cell at the Radboud Institute for Molecular Life Sciences (RIMLS), Radboud University since October 2007, overseeing the Core Facility for Microscopy at Radboudumc. He concurrently serves as Professor in the Department of Genitourinary Medical Oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center since November 2011, leading the imaging section at the David H. Koch Center.

His research pioneers visualization of cell-matrix interactions and dynamic cell patterning during immune responses and tumor invasion. The laboratory employs 3D extracellular matrix (ECM) culture models and advanced imaging, recently expanding to in vivo tumor/immune cell migration studies via multiphoton microscopy. This work has revealed critical insights into T cell scanning dynamics, tumor invasion heterogeneity, and metastatic escape mechanisms.
