Peter Engert serves as Lecturer in the Department of Social Work at the Faculty of Applied Social Sciences and Head of Student Services, International Affairs, and Sustainability at RheinMain University of Applied Sciences.
His educational background includes:
- Master of Arts in Social Space Development and Organization (RheinMain University of Applied Sciences, 2009-2014)
- Nursing Advisor (FHM)/Case Manager (DGCC) (University of Applied Sciences for Small and Medium-Sized Businesses in Bielefeld, 2010-2011)
- Diploma in Social Work (FH) specializing in pedagogy and rehabilitation (Mannheim University of Applied Sciences, 1993-1997)
- Continuing education in cultural management (Fernuniversität Hagen, 2001-2003)
Engert's research integrates Social Network Analysis with Migration Studies and Sustainability through mixed-methods approaches. His projects examine transmigrant labor ('Modern Slaves'), intercultural nursing systems ('OPEN'), and smart technology applications in social contexts ('IMPACT RheinMain'). Current doctoral work combines image science with biographical migration analysis, while the AngoSAP project builds academic capacity with Angolan universities.
He received the 2024 Award for Good Teaching in Sustainability from RheinMain University of Applied Sciences.
Engert actively participates in university governance through the Senate Commission on Internationalization, Presidential Commission for Sustainability, and the 'AI in Studies and Teaching' Think Tank, while maintaining professional affiliations with the German Society for Network Research (DGNet) and Society for Interdisciplinary Image Studies (GIB).
