معرفی
Peter E. Kima is an Associate Professor in the Department of Microbiology & Cell Science at the University of Florida. His research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms of parasitic diseases, particularly Leishmaniasis, and the role of extracellular vesicles in pathogenesis and immune evasion. He investigates host-pathogen interactions, parasite survival strategies, and novel therapeutic approaches targeting intracellular pathogens.
Research highlights include studies on Leishmania parasite vacuole dynamics, ESCRT machinery activation, and extracellular vesicle-mediated signaling. His work explores the application of engineered in vitro models and nanotechnology for drug delivery, as well as the development of diagnostics for hidden infections. Dr. Kima has contributed to understanding the role of host immune responses, including macrophage polarization and cytokine regulation in combating parasitic infections.
Publications span over two decades, with recent emphasis on antiparasitic therapies, vesicle-based diagnostics, and the mechanistic dissection of Leishmania pathogenesis. His research bridges fundamental biology with translational applications in tropical disease control and treatment strategies.
