Peter D. Heinze is a Clinical Professor of Psychology at Ramapo College of New Jersey since 2003. He holds a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology, an M.A. in Organizational Psychology, and a B.A. in Political Science. His research focuses on noncriminal psychopathy, unconscious shame, Jungian theory, and institutional racism, with a particular emphasis on white privilege and cross-cultural dynamics. Heinze teaches courses such as Advanced Topics in Psychopathy and Ethical and Legal Issues in Psychology.
His work bridges clinical psychology with social justice, exploring how unconscious processes like shame interact with systemic racism and organizational behavior. He has developed innovative pedagogical tools for teaching about race and organizational change, including exercises used in both academic and corporate settings.
Heinze’s publications span peer-reviewed journals in psychology, semiotics, and education, addressing topics from psychopathy assessment in MBA students to grassroots educational equity movements. He actively engages with community groups to address academic tracking disparities and has contributed to understanding the psychological dynamics of white antiracism efforts.
His recent work (2021) advances the Dynamic Model of Psychopathy, redefining assessment and treatment approaches. He maintains an active research agenda examining teleology in semiotics and the symbolism of trauma experiences.
