معرفی
Professor Peter Cox is the Director of the Global Systems Institute and Professor of Climate System Dynamics at the School of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Exeter. He previously held leadership roles at the Met Office-Hadley Centre (Head of Climate, Chemistry and Ecosystems, 2002-2004) and the UK Centre for Ecology & Hydrology (Science Director, 2004-2006).
- PhD in Plasma Physics, University of London
His research spans climate system dynamics, carbon cycle modeling, vegetation-climate interactions, and climate change impacts. He pioneered simulations integrating the carbon cycle and vegetation, highlighting risks like Amazon Forest dieback, and contributes to IPCC Assessment Reports.
His publications focus on climate modeling, ecosystem responses, and climate policy, with high citation recognition since 2014. Notable awards include the ERC Advanced Grant (2017).
- Scientific Awards
- ERC Advanced Grant (2017)
- Thomson-Reuters Highly-Cited Author (2014 onwards)
He leads the Global Systems Institute and collaborates with the Environmental Intelligence @Exeter network. His work integrates machine learning, hydrology, and soil sciences into climate research, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to global sustainability.
