Peter Caproni, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor and Core Faculty member in the School Psychology program within the Department of Clinical and School Psychology at Nova Southeastern University's College of Psychology. He concurrently serves as Director of Training for the Psychology Postdoctoral Residency Program and as a consulting/supervising psychologist at the NSU University School.
Dr. Caproni holds a Ph.D. from Adelphi University, an M.A. from West Georgia College, and a B.S. from Xavier University. Following his clinical internship and post-doctoral training in New York City, he dedicated 23 years to Miami-Dade County Public Schools working with at-risk youth.
His research examines school safety frameworks for diverse and LGBTQ+ student populations, post-traumatic growth mechanisms, and therapeutic assessment integration with psychodynamic/humanistic approaches. Dr. Caproni's community impact was nationally recognized through his crisis leadership after the Parkland school shooting, where he developed trauma-response protocols now adopted by multiple school districts.

As Doctoral Practicum Coordinator and Postdoctoral Residency Director, Dr. Caproni supervises clinical training while maintaining a private practice in Miami Lakes. His advocacy extends to public policy development, evidenced by webinars on transgender student safety and suicide prevention protocols featured in Dateline Health Show episodes.
Prior leadership roles include President of the Dade Association of School Psychologists and 15-year tenure as their Professional Development Chair, establishing him as a regional authority in school psychological practice.
