Peter Cappelli is the George W. Taylor Professor of Management at the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School and Director of Wharton’s Center for Human Resources. He holds adjunct roles as a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and has served in advisory capacities for the Kingdom of Bahrain and Singapore’s Ministry of Manpower. His expertise spans human resources, labor economics, and organizational behavior.
Education includes degrees in industrial relations from Cornell University and labor economics from Oxford University as a Fulbright Scholar. Cappelli has held academic positions at MIT, University of Illinois, and UC Berkeley, alongside roles in U.S. government labor commissions and education initiatives.
His research focuses on workforce dynamics, including remote work trends, AI’s impact on HR, and gender equity in career advancement. Notable awards include HR Magazine’s recognition as a top management thinker and the 2009 PRO Award for contributions to HR. He advises on public employment policies and industry practices, emphasizing practical solutions to labor market challenges.
