Peter Brooke is a Lecturer in African Studies at the University of Oxford and a Senior Research Associate at the Department of Communication and Media Studies, University of Johannesburg. He serves as Course Director for the MSc African Studies program.

Peter's research examines the intersection of radio technology with gender and race dynamics, the transnational reach of news audiences, and the symbolic role of radio sets in visual culture (1930s–1980s). He has also published extensively on British decolonisation in Kenya, Zimbabwe, Yemen, and India, as well as 1960s British immigration politics and race relations.
