Peter Andreana

Peter Andreana is a Professor in the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Toledo's School of Green Chemistry and Engineering. His research focuses on carbohydrate chemistry, natural product synthesis, and vaccine development.

Research areas include:

• Natural product synthesis of zwitterionic polysaccharides (ZPS)
• Diversity-oriented synthesis (DOS) for therapeutic agents
• Development of carbohydrate-based vaccines targeting MHCII pathways
• Combinatorial carbohydrate library creation
• Green chemistry applications in small molecule immunology studies

The Andreana group investigates how carbohydrates modulate cellular functions through chemical approaches, with a particular interest in T-cell responses and immune pathway modulators. Their work connects organic chemistry with immunological applications through chemical genetics.
